Term: Pectoralis Major

Definition: Part of the shoulder girdle, the pectoralis major is positioned at the medial half of the clavicle, the lateral surface of the sternum, and the top of the abdominal aponeurosis.  It is a ridge on the front of the humerus beneath the head.  It is responsible for moving the arm over and across the body and allowing the upper arm to rotate inwardly.
