Definition: Part of the hip and thigh section of the body, the semimembranosus includes the ischial tuberosity.    It is located at the medial condyle of the tibia.      The function of the semimembranosus is to pull the thigh backwards, bend the leg at the knee, and rotate the lower leg inward.
