Term: Latissimus Dorsi

Definition: Part of the torso, the latissimus dorsi includes the posterior, upper medial border of the pelvis, and all of the vertebrae located from the sixth thoracic to the sacrum.  It is located on the anterior surface of the humerus; it is responsible for extending the shoulder.
