Term: Mag Stock / Mag Track/ Magnetic Film

Definition: Mag Stock is a section of film surfaced with an emulsion of magnetic oxide rather than silver halides.  It is the same size as film and contains perforations.  All sound is moved to mag stock during the editing process that is then passed along an editing machine that pairs it exactly with the picture.  One frame of sound is paired with one frame of picture.
