Term: Scratch Mix

Definition: A mix along with some sound correction completed prior to the final mix.  A scratch mix is done to screen the film along with the correct use of the sounds to analyze if any alterations need to be done.  A scratch mix is usually only completed on big productions because producing one can be expensive.
