Definition:	A tinted piece of plastic or glass that is positioned in front of or behind a lens in a filter holder. It fuctions as a means to alter the color appearance of the shot. They can be used to change tungsten balanced film for use in broad daylight or the other way around. Sometimes they are used for aesthetic purposes.
