Term Details
Term: Registration
Subcategory: Technical
Definition: The way in a frame aligns with the next frame.  Poor registration can make an image that will bobble once it is projected on the screen.  Like cameras, projectors also have registration, so it can be hard to distinguish sometimes what is the culprit for the bobble that may appear on the screen.  It is essential to have good registration especially for shots that have special effects; the images in these shots are multi-layered and will draw bad attention if the registration is not good.
