Welcome to the Tile glossary index.  Here you will find terms related to the art of using tiles to surface and/or decorate things such as floors, walls, ceilings, and roofs.  A tile can be made out of materials such as stone, glass, metal, marble, slate or ceramic.   Sometimes a tile is glazed and sometimes a tile is painted to enhance its feel and appearance.
